This week Mark was in America, attending the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting -the largest scientific orthopaedic meeting in the world. This year it took place in Las Vegas. Mark had two reasons for attending; the first was to support one of his recent fellows, who was presenting some of Mark’s original research on fixation of pelvic fractures. The second was to attend a number of scientific sessions to keep up to date with current techniques and practices as well share experiences. The educational content of the week covered all aspects of orthopaedic surgery, including trauma as well as elective surgery. Whilst there, he met with a number of corporate people from various international companies, to discuss funding options and future directions for further research. He did not get time to visit the casinos!
